Telephone Conference Call Groups

These 2-hour groups meet both EMDR Institute standards for consultation for Basic Training in EMDR and EMDRIA standards for group consultation for EMDRIA Certification.

I currently offer three telephone conference call consultation groups:

  • The Saturday Group meets from 10 AM - 12 noon Pacific. Next series starts December 20, 2008.
  • The early Friday Group meets from 7:30 - 9:30 AM Pacific. This series started November 14, 2008.
  • The mid-morning Friday group meets 10 AM - 12 noon Pacific. Next series starts March 20, 2009.
Each group series meets once per month. Each group is offered as a package of six 2-hour sessions. For conference call groups, each person is responsible for their own long distance telephone charges. A reduced registration fee is available to those employed 30 hours per week in a nonprofit or community mental health agency. See the registration form for details.

The Saturday group telephone conference call series begins December 20, 2008.
Saturdays: December 20, 2008, January 17, and February 21, March 21, April 18, and May 9, 2009.

Call times for US time zones for this Saturday series:
Pacific: 10:00 AM – 12:00 noon
Mountain: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Central: 12:00 noon – 2:00 PM
Eastern: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

The early-morning Friday group telephone conference call series began November 14, 2008.
New members can join before the December 19, meeting.
Then the group will be closed until the next series begins in May 2009.
Fridays: November 14, December 19, 2008, January 16, February 20, March, 20, and April 17, 2009.

Each group meets EMDRIA standards for group consultation both for Basic Training in EMDR and for EMDRIA Certification.

For Basic Training in EMDR:
• EMDRIA requires 10 hours of consultation in developmental increments over the course of the training.
• The EMDR Institute requires 5 hours before and 5 hours after Weekend 2 for a Certificate of Completion.
• Consultation hours for basic training can be earned over the telephone in group or individual sessions.

For Certification in EMDR:
• EMDRIA requires 20 hours of consultation.
• A maximum of 10 group consultation hours can be earned in a group setting.
• Individual consultation hours can be earned when presenting individual case material.
• Any clinician can earn consultation hours for Certification over the telephone in group or individual sessions.

Group size is limited to a maximum of eight participants. The focus is on the clinical application of standard research supported EMDR procedures described in Francine Shapiro's 2001 text Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing: Basic Principles, Protocols and Procedures, The Guilford Press.

We discuss case formulation and treatment planning issues as well as how to enhance outcomes during the reprocessing phases of treatment. The clinicians who participate come from a wide range of previous theoretical orientations and current practice settings. Some are completing Basic Training in EMDR. Some have completed Basic Training and are pursuing Certification; some are not. Some continue in the group over more than one six month series.
