Andrew M. Leeds, Ph.D. is a California licensed Psychologist and Marriage Family Therapist with 33 years of private practice psychotherapy experience. He maintains a full-time practice in Santa Rosa, California (60 miles north of San Francisco) where he specializes in the assessment and treatment of acute and chronic Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), panic attacks, anxiety, depression and dissociative disorders, and provides relationship counseling. He also provides consultation for clinicians regarding the application of EMDR.
Dr. Leeds is a senior trainer and facilitator with the EMDR Institute, Inc. and an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and Instructor in EMDR. Dr. Leeds received initial training in EMDR in 1991. As a senior EMDR Institute trainer he has conducted EMDR training for more than 13,000 clinicians at some 135 training programs in the United States, Canada, France, England and Japan.
Dr. Leeds has presented papers on EMDR and traumatic stress for regional, national and international professional associations including the American Psychiatric Association, the California Psychological Association (CPA), the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society for Psychotherapy Integration (SEPI) and the World Congress of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (WCBCT). He has also published book chapters and journal articles on EMDR and traumatic stress.
Dr Leeds is an associate member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and a clinical member of the California Psychological Association, CAMFT, International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation and the EMDR International Association.
In 1999, Dr. Leeds was awarded both the EMDR Institute's Ronald A. Martinez Memorial Award and an EMDR International Association award for his service and contributions to the evolution of EMDR.
